Saturday afternoon in a small town in Maine I saw the following family values….A young farmer and his daughter proudly cooking and discussing their products with retail customers, the shop owner, his young family and shop crew selling out of everything put on the grill.

Visitors flock to North Star Sheep Farm by Leah Hoenen

On Saturday, March 30, farm owners Phil and Lisa Webster opened their doors to visitors, welcoming them to tour several barns and to take part in question-and-answer sessions, covering all aspects of raising sheep on both large and small scales.

Explaining how we feed our flock tomorrow in Woban

Lots of grass, great hay and small amounts of oats and barley, no corn gives the flock what they need when they need it.

 

Interesting day tomorrow at Whole Foods in Woban MA  I have been asked to attend the Differentiator Days to discuss the needs of our animals and why we choose to feed the sheep and lambs what they need when they need it for optimum health of the animal as opposed to feeding them what we can find cheap to fatten them to market or leaving them out on poor pasture, aggressive rotation grazing or in a lot eating corn.
